A Foundation for Fighting Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

The Dear John Michael Foundation

was inspired by a three-year-old boy named John Michael who was diagnosed with DMD at the age of two. DMD is a progressive condition that causes weakness in the muscles and eventually loss of muscle mass. This prevents youngsters such as John Michael from learning how to walk, run, and jump. There is currently no cure for this terrible disease. It mostly affects males, and those who are diagnosed with it typically do not live past their late 20s. That’s nowhere near the full life that these children deserve.
